First Batch Handy Bodysurfing Handplanes

Bodysurfing Handplanes

Finally, the first batch of Handy Bodysurfing handplanes is complete! It’s been a journey to get here, but it feels great to have the first set of bodysurfing handplanes finished.

It’s been a long time in the making—countless hours in the workshop, so many mistakes, and even more lessons learned.

I can’t wait to finally try them out!

This first batch includes three boards, all in ‘The Yew’ shape—an all-rounder for adults that will also come in different materials. (If all goes to plan, there will be five shapes across eight series.)

Of course, there were plenty of errors along the way. For example, the second board is narrower than planned after I tried cutting the shape with a wood saw and ended up butchering the foam in the process. (Yeah… maybe don’t trust everything you see on YouTube.)

The-Beginning
The very beginning… everything needs to start somewhere.

Work in Progress
First attempt at glassing – so many things wrong in this photo. But there are many lessons learnt.
