I had been on the road for work for what felt like an eternity, from the bustling streets of Hong Kong to the picture-perfect barrels of Cloud 9 in the Philippines. It was an incredible trip, but I was itching to get home.
Finally back in Hiratsuka, Japan, we took a walk to the beach to check the surf. It had rained earlier that morning, and my son couldn’t resist jumping in the puddles. Feeling grateful to be home and caught up in the moment, I pulled out my phone and snapped a photo of him enjoying it.
The next day, while on the train to work, I opened my phone and saw the photo upside down. That’s when I noticed the love heart in the sky, surrounded by what looked like stars in the universe.
Maybe it was just my imagination… but I think the title Love is in the Air tells the story.
Even though it was taken on an iPhone 4, snapped without much thought, it remains one of my favorite shots.
